48. Silverado
This the first of many Westerns on the list and it holds a special place in my heart as it was released in the year of my birth, 1985. Silverado stars Scott Glenn as Emmett, Kevin Costner as Jake, Kevin Klein as Paden and Danny Glover as Mal. With these four as the lead protagonist you this movie as awesome potential. Silverado beings with Emmett going to get meet his brother Jake along the way he is attacked by bandits which he dispatches. Shortly after he meets Paden who was robbed and left for dead. The 2 reach the town where they find that Jake is in jail awaiting trial for killing a man in self defense. Paden also ends up in the jail after seeing one of his robbers and killing him. Emmett breaks the 2 out of jail aided by Mal an cowboy who is exciled by the town sheriff played by the ever awesome John Cleese. Thus our 4 heroes begin a quest to stop an evil rancher McKendrick and his hired goons from driving good and rightful land owners off there land and save the town of Silverado.
One of the later made Westerns Silverado has charm, wit, and a really great cast featuring Rosanna Arquette, Jeff Goldblum, and Brian Dennhey to name a few. The score on this film is particularly great and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Score. This is one of the greats when it comes to the Western genre, if you are a fan definitely give Silverado a look.
